A section of Jubilee Alliance leaders and supporters are worried by a decision by CORD leaders to hold a parallel Madaraka Day rally in Nairobi.

On June 1, Kenya will witness a rare occurrence because the President will host the official Madaraka Day celebrations in Nakuru.

On the other hand, CORD leader, Raila Odinga, will stage alternative celebrations in Uhuru Park, Nairobi, the city where power rests and the town preferred by the Government as the venue for such a ceremony.

Madaraka Day commemorates the day Kenya attained internal self rule on 1st June, 1963 which preceded full independence from colonialism
