Police on Thursday night killed three suspected gangsters during a shootout on Kenyatta Avenue, Nairobi.
According to the Nairobi police boss, they had pursued the gunmen from Kiliamani area where they are said to have committed a robbery.
“They had robbed a couple in a robbery incident on Chania Road and that is when they were chased to town where they opened fire on police officers,” Nairobi Police chief Japheth Koome said.
A pistol and 60 rounds of ammunition were recovered from the slain men who were found with a vehicle believed to have been stolen.
Koome said they have intensified patrols around the city to curb crime and terror threats after two ISIS suspects were arrested on Tuesday while planning a major attack mainly targeting the public transport system.
