CORD members on Monday heavily lashed out at Deputy President William Ruto with claims that he alongside the Cabinet Secretary for Internal Security, Joseph Nkaissery instigated the arrests of CORD members over hate speech remarks.

Speaking at Busia Women’s Representative, Florence Mutua’s thanksgiving prayers at Butula Polytechnic, the leaders accused Jubilee of selective justice citing that the government was being lenient and much more compliant towards Jubilee members facing the same charges.

The leaders are now calling for the arrest of the Deputy President as he too, they say, has made hate speech utterances.

“We want an explanation of what “kukaranga mtu means”. Said Johnstone Muthama, “Or we might be forced to fry him first before he does it to us.”

Suna East MP Junet Mohammed who was one of the leaders detained said that Ruto and Nkaisserry had clearly planned the arrests and that the D.P was upto no good as he is using “Eurobond money” to buy people so as to weaken the opposition.

Timothy Bosire also had the same sentiments towards Ruto adding that the D.P is hiding his true identity behind the Bible yet his religion is unknown.

“Ruto escaped ICC by a miracle but this time we shall escort him there.” He said.

The leaders also pressed on the issue of tribal dominance citing that if Raila Odinga, their candidate of choice won the elections next year, each tribe would have a fair chance at the country’s top seat.

Aisha Jumwa who was also present at the fundraiser wondered when Kenya will have a president from the Luhya community and thus asked the public to back Raila so as to give minority communities a chance of being represented.
