President Uhuru Kenyatta and the DP William Ruto are currently holding an urgent meeting with CORD leader Raila Odinga and his co-principal Moses Wetangula at State House.
Reports indicate that the agenda of the meeting could be the current standoff regarding the fate of the IEBC Commissioners.
The leaders are also set to delve into the contention surrounding plans by the Opposition to hold parallel Madaraka Day celebrations at Uhuru Park.
Meanwhile, Pressure for the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission officials to vacate office continues to pile up, with the International Commission of Jurists now saying they must do so voluntarily.
ICJ Vice Chairperson Kelvin Mogeni says the proposed parliamentary process by the government will consume a lot of time for another electoral body to be fully constituted, ahead of next year’s General Election.
“If somebody out there has doubts, in the partiality of that person to arbitrate, then his credibility is in question,” Mogeni asserted during a press briefing on Tuesday. “We are asking, please, own up, resign and vacate office.”
