Three policemen have been arrested for links to the murder of a lawyer willie kimani whose lifeless body was recovered amid two other people in Oldonyo Sabuk in Machakos County.
Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinett says that the three have been taken into custody and investigations launched.
” The three have been arrested with a view to ensuring justice for all,” he said on Saturday morning.
” We reiterate that their behaviour is not representative of what the National Police Service stands for and the few rogue elements will always be dealt with firmly according to the law,” he added.
The three have been missing for seven days after they were reported to have been abducted by AP officers as they left a Mavoko court.
Another body, that of boda boda rider Josephat Mwenda, the client and prime witness in a case in which Kimani was helping him pursue over Police harassment was spotted by residents of Oldonyo Sabuk floating in a river on Thursday evening.
Kimani, a lawyer with the International Justice Mission, was reported missing last Thursday, hours after attending a court session in which some APs had charged Mwenda with a traffic offence.
According to a witness, the three were bundled into a waiting AP Land Cruiser and driven to an unknown destination.
The man claimed he had picked up a note thrown from the window of a metal container at the Mlolongo AP camp.
The AP officers are said to have threatened the three and asked them to drop the case before court or face dire consequences.
But as they refused and time went by the officers decided enough was enough and went on to kill them, reports state.
Lawyers have called for the resignation of Police boss Boinett as well as the AP commandant and other senior government officials over the killing.
