ODM MP, Junet Arrested

ODM Party Director of Elections and Suna East Member of Parliament Junet Mohamed has been arrested.

The lawmaker is set to be arraigned in court today over allegations of hate speech and incitement to violence.

He was apprehended and taken to Homa Bay Police Station where he recorded a statement.

Police are yet to reveal more details on the circumstances that have led to Mohamed’s arrest.

Responding to the incident, Homa Bay Woman Representative Gladys Wanga has stated: “Let’s meet at Homabay Police Station to demand answers on Hon Junet’s arrest. Intimidation tactics by a failed regime is unacceptable!

Homa Bay Criminal Investigations chief Joseph Tuksho said the MP would be arraigned in court immediately.

The arrest comes days after President Uhuru Kenyatta vowed stern action against politicians inciting Kenyans to violence.

This is not the first time the legislator will be arraigned in court over hate speech.
