KU Student Charged For Impersonating Inspector General Of Police Joseph Boinet And The DCI Ndegwa Muhoro


A university student has today been charged with impersonation after creating facebook accounts posing as the Inspector General of Police, Joseph Boinnet and the Director for Criminal Investigations, Ndegwa Muhoro respectively.

John Cheboiwo, from Kenyatta University is alleged to have created the accounts on December 31, 2015 with the purpose of defrauding unsuspecting facebook users.

One Daniel Odero is one of the many unsuspecting Kenyans to have fallen victim to the antics, when Cheboiwo pretended to be capable of fast tracking the claims of his brother who died in the line of duty, thus conning his way to a total 425,000 from Odero.

The defendant denied all the charges though being accused of earning more than 500,000 through fraud.
Cheboiwo was however released on a 600,000 bond for all the counts by Senior Principal Magistrate, Charity Oluoch

This comes barely days after A prison warder who had been impersonating the Inspector General of police Joseph Boinnet, on Facebook was arrested in Kisumu.

The man identified as Bevil Ogeda Ouko who is attached to the Kibos main prison had registered a mobile phone number under the name Joseph K. Boinet
