Five Jubilee MP’s Sued CORD Leaders, James Orengo To Appear In Court First

Five Jubilee MPs filed contempt of court proceedings against the opposition leaders, accusing them of disobeying orders that had stopped them from chaotic demonstrations

The MPs are Ferdinand Waititu (Kabete), Moses Kuria (Gatundu South), Kimani Ichung’wa (Kikuyu), Alice Ng’ang’a (Thika Town) and Dennis Waweru (Dagoretti South).

Justice Joseph Onguto yesterday certified the case as urgent and directed Orengo to appear in court on Thursday, as he has been adversely mentioned in the contempt petition.

“The petition seeks interpretation of the rule of law and respect for court orders. I therefore certify it as urgent and order parties be served immediately,” Onguto ruled.

The judge said on the basis of the material filed before court, he was convinced Orengo should be enjoined in the proceedings as a contemner.

Cord leaders Raila Odinga, Kalonzo Mosyoka and Moses Wetang’ula and Siaya Senator James Orengo risk civil jail over the anti-IEBC demonstrations.
