Nairobi governor, Dr. Evans Kidero has written to the Speaker of the Senate, Ekwee Ethuro stating that he wont appear before any house commitee sittings until Mike Sonko is punished for his actions.
The senator during last Wednesday’s meeting, engaged Dr. Kidero in a brawl after insulting and accusing him of grabbing property owned by the city’s residents.
The governor who had appeared before the committee to respond to audit queries, asked the speaker for disciplinary action to be taken against Sonko otherwise he will be absent as he no longer feels secure before the house committee that probes county public accounts and investments.
“The treatment I received from the Senator was undeserved”, says the letter that continues to assert that if no action is taken against Mike Sonko, the governor will move to the Supreme Court to challenge the parliamentary immunity reserved for members so as to clear his name.
The Speaker of the National Senate has not yet responded but is set to do so during the course of the week.
