Drama engulfed Boment County when Deputy Governor , Stephen Mutai claimed that Governor Isaac Rutto had refused to give him funds, thus rendering him incapable of running the County’s activities.
Mr. Mutai says that his requests have been rejected by Rutto several times thus, prompting him to write a protest note to the Governor as well as County Assembly Speaker, Geoffrey Kipngetich asking for direct funding to his office.
The two Bomet principals have lately been on conflicting sides after Mutai publicly announced his intention to run for the county’s top seat on a Jubilee ticket against Governor Rutto.
When asked about his deputy’s claims Isaac Rutto accused Mutai of not attending office meetings and early campaigns for next year’s elections.
“It is unfortunate that he is no longer coming to office and instead started early campaigns just to sabotage the delivery of services to the people,” Rutto said.
However, the Deputy Governor insists on always being at his workplace, especially during crucial meetings and challenged the Governor to check the CCTV footage from his office to confirm that indeed he is always present, before acussing him of absenteeism
