Anti-riot Police Deployed In Hot Spots Ahead Of CORD IEBC Protests

Police say Monday’s planned demonstrations by CORD against commissioners of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) will not be allowed, as no report was made as per the law.

They have warned against any protests either in favour of or against the Commission in any part of the country.

The police denied claims by Senator James Orengo of having reported to authorities plans by hooligans to infiltrate their protests.

Anti riot police have been mobilized in major towns to contain any mass activity by CORD seeking to remove IEBC commissioners from office.

According to Nairobi Police Boss Japheth Koome, the anti-riot officers have been told to ask those assembling to protest to leave the precincts of the IEBC offices.

Police are on the spotlight over the brutality they exhibited during similar protests last week.

Several water cannon have also been dispatched to major hotspots to help in quelling any protests.
