An Administration Police officer, a former Kenya Defence Forces officer and two civilians arrested on Wednesday were arraigned before a Mombasa court on Friday on charges of kidnapping and drug trafficking.
Timothy Nganyi who was attached to the Mvita police post and the ex-KDF officer Nasri Ochieng are accused of abducting Abdalla Rashid within the Likoni area and demanding a Sh70,000 ransom for him.
They pleaded not guilty before Mombasa Chief Magistrate Julius Nangea before being freed on a Sh1 million bond each pending the hearing of their case.
According to court records, “the four had the intention of secretly and wrongfully confining Rashid with the aim of stealing.”
They were also found in possession of heroine sachets and 10 rolls of bhang with a street value of Sh1000.
Meanwhile, the same Mombasa Court freed a woman arrested on terrorism charges.
