Diana Aketch is one of the voluntary icon in Kenya who gives smiles to cancer survivors.
she owns a beauty Parlour along Ngong road where she offers free make up lessons and free wigs to cancer survivors who have lost their hair due to chemotherapy sessions.
Narrating her experience, Diana says she was moved to start the project when one of her client came back after quite a long time, she looked very devastated having lost her hair due to chemotherapy sessions and she requested for a wig.
Aketch was touched that she had to take a step and start the project of offering free wigs to cancer survivors ,so far she has attended to 20 clients, and she has a list of 50 cancer survivors and in different counties.
“everything has a challenge,at first i used to get a huge number and some are not genuine so i had to do a follow up to confirm” quoted Diana on Damka breakfast show yesterday.
Diana, though she has no sponsors at the moment, she is so optimistic and says in 5 years time ,the beauty Parlour will be a home of survivors, where they meet, share a laugh, get pampered not only in Nairobi but in different counties, and have a big chain of getting the survivors.
However, despite being a voluntary ,Diana Aketch is also a wife, a proud mum of two,and a business woman.
