President Kenyatta’s presidency is in the homestretch and he needs a replacement as soon as now.
Peter Kenneth, who until 2017 was emerging as the favourite, has lost goodwill from the most populous tribe. While several options are available, only Waiguru is remaining as the favourite.

It’s now almost confirmed that Kirinyaga governor Anne Waiguru will be DP William Ruto’s running mate in 2022.
A highly placed source at State House reveals that Jubilee has fronted Waiguru after it emerged she is more popular than Peter Kenneth, the man who could easily succeed President Kenyatta.
The source adds that Jubilee also had Devolution CS Mwangi Kiunjuri in mind but later dropped him after leaders from Mount Kenya rejected the name.
Waiguru was yesterday, August 22,2017, photographed alongside Deputy President William Ruto at Kirinyaga where Ruto had attended her swearing in ceremony.Ruto was jovial and almost forgetting his “cat walking” statement.
Facial expression from the two could clearly tell they were in good terms.
However, on July during campaign Deputy President William Ruto announced that he would pick Water Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa as his running mate in the 2022 Presidential race.
Speaking in Bungoma County, the DP noted that he would have Mr Wamalwa as his deputy and after completing his term he (Ruto) would support him for the top seat
The DP noted that with support from the region it would be easy to clinch the seat and urged the residents to support Jubilee for a better chance of ascending to power in the future.
“My friends, I ask you to support us as we are in this together. You have a realistic chance of winning. I will pick Eugene as my running mate and when I complete my term, I will support him to ascend to the top seat,” DP Ruto stated.
