Early this year, Royal Media Services (RMS) sacked four of its top journalists in a move aimed at cutting costs and reorganizing the newsroom
Among those whose services were terminated were feature news reporter Evelyn Wambui, politics reporter Kendagor Obadiah, and two Swahili reporter ; Patrick Injendi and Pheona Kenga.
Rumours had it that Evelyn Wambui was fired because of indiscipline cases in her line duties
According to sources, Evelyn was sacked from Citizen TV with allegations that she was a corrupt news reporter who took bribes to give fake stories.
That prompted further investigations that involved the company’s top management team led by SK Macharia
Sources said that some of the stories she aired were fake and cooked up. She is said to have aired a story on how NTSA were working tirelessly with little pay after she had received a huge amount of money to do the story.
Evelyn is also said to have received bribe from a senior politician from CORD to do a story on a jubilee blogger for criticizing and insulting CORD leaders
