Members of a church in Bungoma County were on Sunday shocked after their pastor collapsed and died minutes before he walked up to the podium to deliver a sermon.
44-year-old Pastor Caleb Sifuna of the Free Salvation Life Ministries in Kanduyi is said to have fallen from his seat as he prepared to preach to the congregation.
Unfortunately, doctors who were immediately called in to check on the clergyman could not save him as he had already passed on.
Confirming the incident, the church bishop, Mr Nahashon Khaemba said Mr Sifuna had just recovered from sickness and was set to preach for the first time after recovery.
“We have lost a trusted and dedicated servant of God. We cannot blame anyone for what has happened. We can only praise the Lord for we know He had good plans for him. The church is mourning but we know that God knows better,” Bishop Khaemba was quoted by the Standard.
Bishop Khaemba added: “Since recovering, he never complained of pain and there were no indication he was sick. I am surprised that we have lost him in such a mysterious way.”
Police confirmed that investigations into the mysterious death of the pastor had been launched
