Police officers say they recovered KSh 1.4 million more than half the amount stolen which was stolen from Tharaka Nthi Member of Parliament
This is after they-the Police= had arrested two suspects involved in the robbery.
One of the suspects is said to be a friend of Constable Josphat Kipyegon who had deposited the money into the officers account.
“We found the man whom he sent to deposit the money on his behalf. He confessed that he was sent by the officer and we are currently also holding him,” a police officer is quoted by the nation.
The second suspect arrested according to detectives was Kipyegon’s girlfriend, Rose Kajira, a Mount Kenya University student who is also linked to the robbery.
According to reports, Kajira studies at MKU’s Thika campus and is allged to have hid part of the money stolen.
The Administration Police officer is alleged to have robbed the deputy governor at gunpoint on Wednesday, October 12.
