Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua on Thursday issued outrageous orders to his security personnel against journalists covering his event in Bomas of Kenya, Nairobi.
Dr. Mutua, who was launching his Maendeleo Chap Chap party, instructed the bouncers at his event to forcefully evict journalists from the premises.
“I don’t want to see media here…bouncers hakuna kupoint, shika shingo tupa nje, nyonga hao, watupe nje (grab their necks and throw them outside, strangle them and throw them outside),” Mutua was quoted.
His remarks utterly shocked journalists who were taking photographs at the event.
According to reports, the Governor later apologized over his remarks stating that he was taken out of context.
He said that nyonga hao was to mean grab their shirt adding that there were certain people who had invaded the facilities and he wanted them to be flushed out.
On Tuesday, two female journalists were assaulted at the Nyeri County Assembly when Ward Representatives turned against each other during an impeachment motion against Gover Nderitu Gachagua
According to a report by the Daily Nation, one of their female reporters identified as Grace Gitau was among those attacked.
It is said that a camera was grabbed from her by an angry MCA, twisting her arm in the process.
