Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua’s mother on Thursday afternoon caused a dramatic scene at Mbaitu FM over a story defaming her son.
A source at the vernacular radio station says that Mutua’s mother was angered by a story which alleged that the Governor had grabbed a piece of land.
According to the source who sought anonymity over sensitivity of the matter, the controversial story had not been aired by Mbaitu FM.
The official disclosed that the matter was settled after they assured the Governor’s mother that it was not them who had run the story.
Early in November, Mutua was linked to the grabbing of 13,000 acres of land belonging to the East African Portland Cement Company Limited in Mavoko Sub County.
He denied the allegations and invited officers from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) to investigate the matter.
“After consultation with the East African Portland Cement Company Limited Board, the National Land Commission and my officers, I have written to EACC to investigate massive corruption involving land grabbing of 13,000 acres of East African Portland Cement Company Limited land located in Mavoko, Machakos County,” Mutua said back then in a press statement.
It’s not clear whether the mother was protesting over the same story or a different one
