Sad Tuesday morning as 12 people have been confirmed dead following a suspected al Shabaab attack in Mandera county.
According to a report to the media, the terrorists attacked a lodging hosting non-locals using explosives – grenades and IEDs – on the morning of Tuesday, October 25.
It is also said ten people including four who were wounded in the morning raid have been rescued from the lodging that had 33 occupants.
Mandera county commander Job Boronjo confirmed the incident. He said: “It is true there was an attack. Rescue efforts are ongoing.”
After carrying out the attack, the gunmen who are largely believed to be al Shabaab operatives escaped towards the Somalia border.
