Julia Akinyi, 21, a student at the University of Nairobi is among many female students selling Ovaries for survival in the city.

Upon interrogation, the young vibrant girl says she ventured into the lucrative business to make ends meet in campus

According to the lady, the process is quite simple. One starts by filling some forms, then get daily injections for seven to 14 days when the menstrual cycle begin, followed by a small procedure and you pocket Sh30,000.

“The day I was paid Sh30,000, I was super happy,” Julia said as published by the local daily

She added that they have been selling their eggs in one of the few In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) centres in Nairobi.

Selling of eggs by women in Kenya can fetch up to Sh50,000, which is peanuts compared to Western countries where the amount shoots up to $8,000 (Sh800,000).

To qualify, one has to be between the ages of 18 and 29 years
